If you have a busy life, chances are you don’t get everything that you plan done in a day. If your life is as busy as mine, you probably forget about the laundry in the washer. After a couple of days, the smell in the laundry starts to remind you about what you have forgotten. This is a sign that you have problems with mildew. The mildew smell is kind of like sour milk. When you have the mildew smell on your laundry, you need to take care of it right away, because if you don’t, it can rot your clothing. The easiest way to take care of the smell is to restart your laundry. Add just a couple of tablespoons of bleach for mildew removal to your load once the water level has risen to its proper level. After you re-wash your laundry, it shouldn’t smell anymore, but if it does there is an easy way to treat it.
Another way to do mildew and mold removal that is fairly simple and yet effective is to take your laundry outside and hang it up on a clothesline. As the sun comes out and dries your laundry, it will also get rid of the mildew and the mildew smell. Sunlight naturally kills mildew so there is no need to involve any use of chemicals. If you do not have a clothesline outside your home, it will not take that much work for you to install one. You can just use a regular rope and run it from one corner of your fence to the next, or you can run it from the corner of a shed to a pole. The key is to take care of the problem with the laundry right away. As long as you don’t let it sit for too long, you should be able to get rid of the mildew smell and keep the mildew from ruining your clothes.
